Snapshot-less

I am in the midst of packing up my house to move…after 35 years. Anyone need some ‘stuff’? Oy vey. I have accumulated so much of it. So today I am not posting a snapshot. But I wanted to let you know that.

I have a question. Why did I save six pictures that look almost exactly alike, are a little fuzzy and don’t really tell a story? I think pictures used to feel sacred somehow — back in the days when you had to buy film then pay to have it developed. I think it made me feel that I had to cherish them somehow. Well, I growed up and ain’t gonna keep ’em no more. Good-bye to the countless pictures of a river that I no longer know where it is or what it’s called. I don’t even know what continent it flows through.

I was told to purge my closet of anything I haven’t worn in a year. Well in the year of Covid I have pretty much lived in sweatpants and old tee shirts. It seems I may need some of those unworn jeans or skirts as the world slowly opens up a bit. This means that I am packing clothes I may get rid of in a couple of months. It doesn’t worry me, really…its just how my brain works…weird and forever in motion.

And so I thank you, faithful reader, for your patience this week and I invite you to do something that brings you joy. Its good for your soul. Also, if you’re a praying person, I’d appreciate a prayer on my behalf as I sort through the stuff of my life trying to determine what has value and what does not.

And there’s one more important thing…

Continuing on…

Sherry Barrett, my dear friend and incredibly gifted artist, has drawn all but two of the 40+ snapshots we’ve posted. She was with me in the initial conversations about publishing Snapshots and has been a constant and faithful source of encouragement and feedback over the last several years. I’m not sure I would have started this journey without her.

But alas, Sherry feels that God is guiding her to use her time and talents in another direction. I bless her in this endeavor even as I’m asking God if He’s sure this is such a good idea. I tell you this because in a few weeks the artwork of Snapshots will look different. As far as I can tell I will continue to write Snapshots. I guess I’ll figure out the look of it as I go! If you’d like to see more of Sherry’s work you can visit it at sherrybarrettart.com. This picture is a self-portrait.

Thank you, Sherry, for your faithful partnership. You have shown me excellence, patience and perseverance. I appreciate you and I bless you.

And to all of you….

The Lord bless you, and watch, guard and keep you. The Lord make His face to shine upon and enlighten you and be gracious [kind, merciful and giving favor] to you. The Lord lift up His approving countenance upon you and give you peace [tranquility of heart and life continually].”      Numbers 6:24-26 Amplified Bible
